The New Year, 2018 has just clicked over and for many of us, it is as much a time for reflections (and hangovers) as it is for goal setting and the year ahead. A big part of Goal setting is to be SMART about them.
- Specific (simple, sensible, significant).
- Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
- Achievable (agreed, attainable).
- Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).
- Time-bound (time-based, time-limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).
The beauty of Digital is that often there is data available that can help you to grow.
At TMM we like to use some benchmarking so that we know where we are starting at and then build goals from there. Take a quick moment to write down some figures somewhere that you can access easily like your phone notepad: Current Following across all the social media channels you use, Email database size and how many times you communicated to that list in 2017, Google Analytics for your website total for 2017 and averages for monthly, as well as any other data that is relevant to your business and plans for growth in 2018.
Now against those numbers mark some goal numbers for this year. Once you’ve done that, add another column with double the goal number in it and mark it as your stretch goal. Your Stretch Goal is the one you should shoot for all year.
Once you have your stretch goals, you need to convert them into bite-sized chunks. Quarterly
